Sunday 18th August 2019 our group The Banned perform on the bandstand at Elsecar at 2pm and 3.30pm, where I am sure they will be performing tracks from their first CD, ROCK IT, launched this month and available to purchase.
Why not pop along and support them and while you are there visit the nearby Elsecar Heritage Centre. Elsecar for a small village is packed with exciting things for the kids and parents to get involved in. The local Elsecar park and reservoir make for a relaxing stroll between events.
Lets hope the weather is good.
The two great exhibitions also on at the Centre this Sunday are: –
1. GREAT ENGINE IN ACTION
Elsecar is home to the world’s oldest steam engine still in its original location in the world, a 1795 Newcomen Engine that pumped water from the New Colliery. On these special 45-minute tours, see the engine in action, tour the New Colliery and look down its Georgian mineshaft. The engine is recognised to be one of the world’s greatest monuments to the Industrial Revolution.
Tours will be running at 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
2. GUIDED TOUR: THE EARL’S VILLAGE OF IRON AND COAL
Join Elsecar’s expert guides for a fascinating tour of the Heritage Centre and immediate surrounding area. Explore the incredible history of the Earl’s workshops and the unique industrial village of Elsecar. Imagine the power of the furnaces, the bravery of Barnsley’s miners and the grand splendour of Royal visits. Learn about the extraordinary things Elsecar made and special moments in our remarkable past.
Tours will leave the Visitor Centre at 2pm and each tour lasts approximately 1 hour.
