During the summer of lockdown Social Eyes decided that they would like to add some new signage to the railings surrounding their headquarters in order to raise everyone’s spirits and make the building a positive focal point.
We appealed to our local Councillors Dave Shepherd and Bob Bird, who once again showed their commitment to the building by donating and so the first signs were commissioned. Other locals followed with donations and more signs were ordered. We hope to have local primary schools design signs to add in the new year.
The first signs have now been erected alongside the disused tyres [ donated by AP Tyres, Parkgate] and fashioned into ‘Snowies’ .
We are pleased to have one for Rawmarsh St Josephs Junior Football Club who have taken not only our disability football team under their wing but the entire service. Their help during the first lockdown when they loaned us their football pitches and pavilion allowed us to continue the disability service when our own buildings were too small for adequate social distancing. A fantastic summer of fun and games was enjoyed up at the KCM Arena @ Stubbin.
We had a fantastic reaction from local children and residents to the ‘Snowies’ and are now eliciting an equally appreciative reaction to the signs. During this year’s restrictions we have had a massive increased footfall incorporating Harding Avenue into their daily walks.
Our gang and the Green Team would like to wish everyone a peaceful and healthy Christmas and a super New Year 2021, when hopefully we will all be back together again – without any restrictions.
