Day provision for adults with mild/moderate learning disabilities and Autism
Author: Social eyes Rotherham
Social eyes is a day service provision for adults with mild / moderate learning disabilities and autism, based at Drop-in-centre, Harding Avenue, Rawmarsh and various outreach centres.
It was exercise morning up at Harding Ave today followed by craftwork. Meanwhile after a nature walk to collect specimens, up at Wickersley Cricket Club, it was back to draw and colour the leaves and twigs that had been collected.
Sadly the Covid-19 rates are rising in Rotherham, so stay safe everyone.
Busy Friday down at the unit where it was indoor sport on the agenda rather than on a windy outdoor field. The Banned were in practise mode up @ Stubbin, but indoors this time; while the walking group were out for a socially distanced walk around the Monkwood area, just checking the pub was ok!!
First up are the Harding Avenue crew enjoying craftwork and the walkers.
Now here’s the new unit. A great deal of fun was had in the keep fit/sporting events.
The Banned up in the pavilion @KCM Arena, Stubbin kindly loaned by Rawmarsh St Josephs JFC, so no neighbours to annoy up here.
And even some volunteers learning the art of sanitising.
Sorry everyone about no post yesterday, there was a problem uploading the photos. We hate for you to miss seeing our fun packed days that we all enjoy.
Still never mind we have a bumper edition today of all the activities that have been taking place. So, make yourself a cuppa and perhaps a biscuit and here we go.
First up we have photos from Harding Ave base camp.
Next we have photos from the new unit. As you can see although classed as an industrial unit we are making it very homely. The carpet is down and I’m sure the artists in our group will soon have the walls brightened with artwork and craftwork, as we do up at Harding Avenue.Wednesday it was our drama group that were first to use the building but I’m sure it will be as busy as base camp from now on.
Next we have the local walks since Monday.
Here come the trips out to feed the ducks by one group, while another went conker hunting.
And finally some of our group were up at Wickersley Cricket Club.
The return to indoors today went without a hitch. All the new rules were followed and the smiles on everyone’s face said all that needed to be said.
Staggered arrival and exit times to the buildings have been introduced; between 9am – 10am for arrival and 3pm – 4pm for exiting and it all worked perfectly. As every person entered the building’s they had their temperature taken and oxygen level tested.Failure on either reading would have meant a return home, with no return until an all clear test result.
Then it was down to action at the socially distanced desks with their own individual pens and pencilsand equipment.Look at those smiles!!!
Our walking group enjoyed a local walkinthe autumn weather.
Yet another group were up at Wickersley Cricket Club, who are kindly allowing us to use their pavilion on a Monday and Tuesday.
On Wednesday the drama group returns and will be using our new unit down at Parkgate which is currently undergoing decoration. The carpet has been laid, so it’s all go for some furniture to arrive in time?
So, see you all tomorrow with further updates on the indoor provision.
