More Welly Wanging, sports events, singing videos and a wet t-shirt ???

What a fantastic Friday on the field. The sun was blazing, umbrellas up again but this time against the sun, spirits were high for week 4 of our Summer of Sport.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Many questions posed during today’s session, the main one is why is Jack so wet?? We know it’s hot, but??? Keep reading to the end to find out.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

After last week’s successful welly wanging it was more great wangingΒ  in the sun, with some great throws recorded amid the hilarity. Highly competitive races were run, despite the heat, after all it was our Summer of Sport.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Social Eyes has some very competitive sportspeople, especially the football section. That competitive spirit is why we won the South Yorkshire Ability Counts League that the team play in.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Here’s the first batch of this week’s welly wanger’s in action. More over the weekend.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Now we have the sporting photos. Just look at those racers, they were innit to winnit.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

An Everest moment, The Banned perform, lots of fun but have a tissue ready

Thursday on the field and there were lots of activities taking place. Our walking group tackled the terrain around the Arena culminating with a photo from the heights of Haugh looking down onto their friends on the field below. They went for an Everest moment and unfurled the Social Eyes flag.

Meanwhile down on the KCM Arena our group, The Banned, gave a rousing performance much to the delight of the onlookers.

Today [Friday] the weather is set fare for another scorcher so there should be lots of happy faces again. At last the weather seems to be turning in our favour, but whatever the weather The Green Team will continue. πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

Be sure to watch the video after the photos, but have a large box ofΒ  tissues ready. This is the reality of this pandemic and it’s not just the elderly that are desperate for the human contact of a cuddle. Our guys and gals will be in full agreement.

Stay safe everyone, the cuddles I’m sure will return. πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

Memories of activities during the last 2 week BEFORE lockdown, progress on the dugouts and this week’s activities plus kitchen update.

Before we were locked down we were about to start raising funds to upgrade the kitchen in the Drop-in-Centre. Today we have had a meeting with kitchen fitters to give us a ball-park estimate of how much we would need.!!!! As we would like to do the work while the Centre is not being used, which would limit the disruption, we need to look to raising some funds within the Covid guidelines.

We see this upgrade of the kitchen as essential to allow the Centre to fulfil its present activities and allow Social Eyes users to gain cooking experience, but also allow the Centre to be used for the benefit of the local population, allow friendship groups to meet, childrens parties or even adult parties, coffee mornings, etc. Socially distanced activities are essential at the moment to try and bring life back to normal.

Meanwhile today’s set of photos were taken in the two weeks before we went into lockdown. Oh happy days!!! There were walks, visits, football and the last Banned practice and all with no social distancing. Little did we know the change we were about to have to adapt to. πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

Update on the progress of the dugouts at KCM Arena @Stubbin,whose football-field they are kindly allowing us to use for our day service. The concrete bases are now laid, thanks to Ricky and Craig for their expertise and time which is much appreciated… Next job is building them.Β  πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

And just to finish. This week’s memories include Rachel in her garden, Richard’s sunflower finally blooming, Sam has been camping out again and a video of Richard at his second home – the gym.Β  Many thanks to their parents for these lovely photos.πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

Memories of birthdays, farm visits and THE PUB!!

Morning readers, thank you for dropping by. Tuesday’s, as my regular readers know, are memory photos days.

As a service we take photographs constantly throughout every session, mainly for parents/carers to see how much every user enjoys their time with us but also, so there is nothing hidden or behind the scenes at Social Eyes Rotherham.

All out service users are deemed as vulnerable due to the number of health issues they live with daily. For many a visit to Social Eyes is the highlight of their week so we make sure their enjoyment is our aim.Β

This is not a promotional article. It’s a reminder of, I am sure the parents/carers will echo, how essential this service has become during this pandemic. We are continually adapting our service within the Covid rules to allow us to continue offering routine to our users, who thrive on routine.

Here’s a few activity memories from 2018, while our second block of photos show birthday celebrations. At Social Eyes everyone’s birthday is celebrated [ staff as well] and some are in different venues depending on where the activities of the day are taking place.
