Birthday, planes, staycation & Ruby

Morning everyone, Wednesday and it’s a veryΒ  mixed bag today of photos from the weekend and yesterday while we wait from today’s photos from the field.

First we have to update the scoring in the Summer of Sports after last Friday’s hilarity. In It Together just in the lead with The Rock and Bumble Bee tied. I’m sure the X Factor will stage a comeback this Friday.

Over the weekend we had the birthday of our drumming icon; we all hope you’ve had a great day TaylorΒ  πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚πŸŽ‚

Everyone has enjoyed a great time over the last few days. It’s so nice to be able to spend time with our families at last even if it’s too warm for comfort. Claire is modelling her new visor, LauraΒ  toasted marshmallows before she attempted the maiden flight of her plane [watch the video], David went to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and the giraffes photo-bombed his picture, while Martin was out and about in Wentworth. We have had another sunflower finally decide to flower but the lupins are falling prey to the slugs.

Let’s hope next summer we will be back on our allotment growing our own veg minus the slugs.

And finally after the video we have an update on Ruby. She spent the weekend with Claire and family, who were disappointed to lose out on their caravan booking so they made the most of a weekend staycation at Rawmarsh. Water but no sand.Β

See you all tomorrow for the KCM Arena updates.

THE SUNFLOWER LANYARD

Lanyard

It appears that many people, especially those not connected to the disabled community, are unaware of the Sunflower Lanyard, the sign of a hidden disability.Β  This lanyard exempts the wearer from wearing a mask.

Read this ladies experience:

Something has been bugging me. Tom and I went for a coffee yesterday; we ordered with our masks on and sat inside the shop to enjoy it (masks off). AnotherΒ customer comes in without a mask, orders his coffee and cake and goes to sit outside. The lady behind makes a comment about everyone should be wearing masks, the staff back her up. If they looked at the man again, they would have seen he was wearing a bright green lanyard covered in sunflowers, it’s really hard to miss. This lanyard indicates that this man has a hidden disability and is possibly unable to wear a mask.
I hope that it was just a case of the staff not knowing about this as well as the lady who made the loud comment. I wish I had spoken up but I also didn’t want to shout across the coffee shop that the man had a disability. Perhaps we need to spread the message, especially to shops etc what this lanyard means.
If you didn’t know, look at the link:
https://hiddendisabilitiesstore.com

Not all disabilities are visible – some are hidden and not immediately obvious, such as learning difficulties, mental health as well as mobility, speech, visual or hearing impairments. Living with a hidden disability can make daily life more demanding for many people, but it can be difficult for others to identify, acknowledge or understand theΒ challenges you face.

Be visible when you want to be

Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower discreetly indicates to people around you including staff, colleagues and health professionals that you may need additional support, help or a little more time.

Listen to Daisy’s sunflower story and help to educate everyone in your circle just what it means.

Models, heat, games and a stubborn cameraman’s digit

Sunday, blissfully a little cooler, so let’s have a little fun day.

First we have the staff modelling !!!!! the new lightweight silk!! face covering that is now on sale @ Β£3 each. That’s the face covering staff member not included. To say it was blistering heat on the field is an understatement but the staff found the only overcast part of the day.Β  πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

A few more photos from Friday’s scorcher @KCM Arena, where shade, under umbrellas and sun tans were the order of the day. Some pretty impressive tans now after a few warm sessions.Β πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ πŸ’šΒ πŸ’š

And finally,

update on the dugouts down at the KCM Arena. Big thanks to Ricky WeatherstoneΒ andΒ Liam Drabble for their hard work and giving their free time up. Watch out for the cameraman’s finger that was determined to have a starring role in the video!!

I’m sure there will be more updates from Rawmarsh St Joseph’s JFC before long.

More Welly Wanging, sports events, singing videos and a wet t-shirt ???

What a fantastic Friday on the field. The sun was blazing, umbrellas up again but this time against the sun, spirits were high for week 4 of our Summer of Sport.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Many questions posed during today’s session, the main one is why is Jack so wet?? We know it’s hot, but??? Keep reading to the end to find out.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

After last week’s successful welly wanging it was more great wangingΒ  in the sun, with some great throws recorded amid the hilarity. Highly competitive races were run, despite the heat, after all it was our Summer of Sport.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Social Eyes has some very competitive sportspeople, especially the football section. That competitive spirit is why we won the South Yorkshire Ability Counts League that the team play in.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Here’s the first batch of this week’s welly wanger’s in action. More over the weekend.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

Now we have the sporting photos. Just look at those racers, they were innit to winnit.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š

A beautiful panoramic view of the field of dreams.Β  πŸ’šΒ β˜€οΈΒ πŸ’š
